Helen was born in Bristol, and then moved to the Midlands and London. She returned to the South West with her family in 2004 and now lives in Dartington in Devon. She works for a national charity and has also been a teacher, worked for the Greater London Authority and spent two years with Voluntary Service Overseas in Ghana.
Helen started writing poetry when she was 50, although she has enjoyed reading and studying poetry throughout her life. She is a member of Moor Poets and has an MA (Dist) in Creative Writing from Exeter University. Helen walks the SW coast path with her black Labrador, Tess, and enjoys local walks by the river Dart, river and sea swimming as well as singing, cooking and politics.
